Our efforts to gain God's favor by good works and personal righteousness is a stench in His nostrils (Isaiah 64:6), but works of faith done in humble obedience and sincere worship are a pleasing smell, a sweet, pleasant, appealing perfume, that awakens His desire for us and opens the door for our entrance to come close to Him and to enjoy his holy and intimate presence.
